When we left off in issue 3, Scythia had burned down Wanda’s shop and captured Darcy Lewis. Scythia claims Darcy owes her and the Bacchae a debt. We learn that Darcy was accepted into one of the Bacchae sects as a member. She joins the Daughters of Enyo, only to kill one of the other members. Scythia couldn’t sit back and let this happen, since Darcy is still considered an outsider, so she sets out to get revenge. Wanda and Scythia battle it out while Wanda sends Darcy far away, beyond the Bacchae’s reach. Later in the issue, we learn that Darcy killing one of the Daughters of Enyo was an act of self defense. She went in as a journalist and was desperate for a story. The Daughters of Enyo were “out of control”, according to Darcy. Any crime was punishable by death, no matter how serious. The Daughters of Enyo eventually found Darcy’s notes for the article she was going to write, and sentenced her to death. Her only way out was to kill one of the Daughters and make a break for it. At the very end of the issue, we see Scythia preparing herself for the epic battle with Wanda, which we will see in the 5th (and last) issue!

This issue was really good. I like that it’s different from the previous three; it doesn’t follow the same storyline. I also like that it expands on Darcy’s story, something we haven’t seen very much of until now. I’m super excited to read the last issue and find out how all the conflicts so far are resolved. I’m also interested in how Jarnette’s stone (from the first issue) comes into play. It made a brief appearance in this issue, but it didn’t have a huge role. Be sure to stick around to see how this amazing series comes to a close!
