Free Comic Book Day 2014 is this coming Saturday, May 3. I’ve got a link to the free comics below, and you should check out any and all copies you can get your hands on. That said, here are the ones you should definitely look for when you’re at your local comic book shop this weekend:
DC The New 52 Future’s End Special Edition
Hardly a single part of that phrase after “DC” makes any sense. However, it’s free and a way to see what you’ve been missing in the DC Universe.
Guardians of the Galaxy
Get this one in preparation for the big summer spectacular feature film. I’ve never been a huge fan of Marvel’s cosmic titles, but I love what I’ve seen of the movie so far. Hopefully the book will give a primer on the team for casual comic fans. Plus, it looks like Venom is in this for some reason.
Rise of the Magi
No idea what this is about, but it’s written by Marc Silvestri, so I guess it’s got that going for it. Still, you can’t beat the price if you’re going to sample it.

2000 AD Special
A free Judge Dredd story? Why, yes, thank you. I’ll take one of those…
Rocket Raccoon
The sure-to-be breakout star of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie gets a solo title on FCBD, too.
All You Need is Kill
Soon to be a major motion picture starring Tom Cruise. Sadly, the movie was given the ultra-bland title Edge of Tomorrow. Isn’t All You Need is Kill about a dozen times better than that?
Atomic Robo
Just yesterday, Atomic Robo led his compatriots at Red 5 publishing to an unprecedented Hot Comic Publisher of the Week award. And now he’s here with an adventure for Free Comic Book Day. If you haven’t read Atomic Robo DO NOT MISS THIS ONE!
Hip Hop Family Tree Two-In-One
I can only come up with three letters for this capslue. “W”, “t”, and you guess the third. Free seems about the right price, though.
The whole list can be found at the official Free Comic Book Day site. I think I’m going to try and hit Dragon’s Lair, Legend Comics, and Krypton Comics all this Saturday. Let me know where/when you’re going to be, and I’ll give a plug to your favorite local comic shop on the blog.
Cheers!
